Steve Burton

I lead the team at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare.  Our role is to help the public learn about alli and whether the pill+program is right for them.

I used the prescription version of alli (Xenical), and with a lot of exercise and smarter choices about what to eat, I lost 60 pounds and have kept it off for around 3 years.  And yes, I know what happens when you foolishly eat too much fatty food at one time with alli. Read about my Oops experience.

My weight loss results aren't typical, but I did learn a lot about alli and want to share what I've learned.

To be clear, my posts reflect my views and personal experiences and do not necessarily represent the views of GSK.  But I'm fortunate to talk with a lot of experts in the weight loss field and I'll try to share opinions based on what I understand is backed by science and the clinical experience of the experts.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Joe Cadle

Joe Cadle My official title is alli Marketing Director, but I hardly ever use it.  In reality, I think of myself as "the Dad who always loses at Uno", though I suspect a conspiracy among my four children.  For all I know, my two dogs are in on it as well.

I have spent the past several years working on all the communications associated with the alli brand.  Luckily for me, I am surrounded by a terrific team of really smart people.  If you've read the alli label, seen our commercials or been to our website, chances are that my team had a hand in their creation.

I look forward to having a conversation with you as long as it's not in the middle of a Steeler's game, in which case I will be carrying on an animated conversation with the TV.

My role as the attorney on the alli team is to help everyone else express the important messages about alli.

I often take on an editing role, working with copy that's been created by any number of professional writers.

But being in the "typing seat" and creating copy from scratch is quite a different role. Hey - I knew it would be difficult and it really is.

I respect the creative talents I work with, even more so now. Alli is a truly new product and we have to think long and hard about how we want to talk about it to consumers.

I am working with quite a large team, and they are totally keeping me busy.

Hi. I am a brand manager on alli, having worked on many things from the alli packaging to the are you losing it? book.

I'm a complete TV-aholic, part of a two-DVR household, who also loves yoga, spinning, and finding time to cook a good meal.  The wonders of the modern era...  But, at the end of the day, I’m a gal who loves being with her family (one of 41 grandchildren) and friends.

Ok, enough about me.  We've all learned a lot over the past few years while working on alli, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Debbie Weil

Debbie_weil You might know me as the author of The Corporate Blogging Book. I'm delighted to be working with GlaxoSmithKline and the alli team on this blog.

As far as we know, it's a first for Big Pharma - a blog that accompanies a highly-publicized (and somewhat controversial) product launch.

You won't hear from me much. I'll be behind the scenes doing a bit of editing and otherwise guiding the contributors as they make their first foray into the blogosphere.

We'll try and be smart. Hope you'll be kind and give everyone a bit of time to find their voice.

about this blog

  • alliConnect is GlaxoSmithKline's official corporate blog for alli, the only FDA-approved, OTC weight loss product. It's a place for you to have a conversation with us about weight loss issues. Because we work for a drug company we do have to abide by a few rules. Legal stuff...
